INTRODUCTORY GUITAR & BASS BUILDING COURSE FOR AMATEURS taught by prestigious master luthier Jerzy Drozd is the perfect choice to become initiated in the fine art of lutherie while you build your own string musical instrument.

INTRODUCTORY GUITAR & BASS BUILDING COURSE FOR AMATEURS has a duration of 105 hours. With this course you will learn the basics of string instruments building while you build your own electric guitar or bass guitar.

Classes include expository sessions which detail theoretical knowledge and practice sessions. Practice sessions represent the bulk of the course, consisting of building a simple instrument with fixed bridge, ash and maple wood and oil finish based on classic designs (Stratocaster, Telecaster, Jazz Bass...). If the student already has his own instrument design, this course is an opportunity to bring his project to reality.

Students are provided with all materials, components and tools required for the manufacture of a simple instrument. As an option, exotic woods, different finishes and other variations can be added to the building project.

Dates and timetable can be adapted to the needs of each student or group.

Electric guitar and bass guitar building course sessions are scheduled at the student convenience.
You can split the total hours of the course and schedule your sessions at the times that are most convenient to you.
Our advisers will help you to organize your course sessions.

However, if you want to take a prescheduled course, you can choose between three modalities:
THREE-WEEK COURSE
Monday to Friday, morning and afternoon sessions
Each session lasts three to four hours with short breaks in between
The lenght of the sessions depends on the student progress
TWO-WEEK INTENSIVE COURSE
Monday to Sunday, morning and afternoon sessions
Each session lasts four to five hours with short breaks in between
The lenght of the sessions depends on the student progress
EIGHT-WEEKEND COURSE
Saturday and Sunday, morning and afternoon sessions
Each session lasts three to four hours with short breaks in between
The lenght of the sessions depends on the student progress
SIX-WEEKEND INTENSIVE COURSE
Saturday and Sunday, morning and afternoon sessions
Each session lasts four to five hours with short breaks in between

Throughout the 105 hours of the course, master luthier Jerzy Drozd, will teach the basics of the art of building a stringed musical instrument with frets.
After completing this course, each student will have built his own guitar or electric bass.
Classes include expository sessions and practice sessions. Practice sessions represent the bulk of the course, consisting of building a simple instrument with fixed bridge, ash and maple wood and oil finish based on classic designs (Stratocaster, Telecaster, Jazz Bass...).
All materials, components and tools required for the manufacture of a simple instrument are provided and included in the price of the course.
As an option, if the student already has his own instrument design, he may build an instrument from this design, instead from the classic proposed design. In that case, master Drozd shall correct and validate the design.
The learner also has the possibility of using other woods, components or even applying other finishes to the instrument to build.
The course price differs in these two cases. For both options the student will be provided a customized quote.

The courses take place at THE BIRD RESTORE CENTRE, where we find the JERZY DROZD School of Lutherie.
THE BIRD RESTORE CENTRE is located in the heart of Alt Emporda, in the spanish Costa Brava, just 15 kilometres from L' Escala and Figueres, and 20 kilometres from Girona.
Students will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs. However, THE BIRD RESTORE CENTRE is pleased to provide a list of accommodation and transport facilities to all registered in the course. Students can also hire our Personal Travel Planning Service: THE BIRD RESTORE CENTRE will plan and manage your accomodation, transport and other activities during the course. Once registered you will receive information regarding this.
